The name of the device, hardware, or software you would like to control: L-Acoustics P1, LA8, LA12X

What you would like to be able to make it do from Companion: controll the mutes, the volumes levels, the delay levels and the routing

Direct links or attachments to the ethernet control protocol or API: https://www.l-acoustics.com/documentation/GLOBAL/EN/AV%20Control%20Systems/L-Acoustics_AV_control_systems.pdf

This has been requested before. #959 #276 and partly #1098 for Network Manager This comment on #959 states that SNMP will be discontinued in Q4 2023. I will try to send a mail to L-Acoustics to see what they would recommend we do and which protocol we use that will be best supported in future by LA12X, LA4X and LA7.16 and hopefully backwards compatible with LA8 and LA4 as there are still thousands of these amplifiers out in the wild being used on a daily basis. IMHO SNMP would be the best to use as I suspect LA Network Manager uses it to control the amps themselves. I'll try to post any useful info I get from LA here to see if we can get something going.

So I did send an email to the email address the document provided for SNMP and I fear I have some bad news. At the moment it is against L-Acoustics company policy to "openly publish or distribute remote control APIs or tools, except for the officially supported platforms Q-SYS, Crestron, Control4 and Savant." Quotes are as received from L-Acoustics. "Creating a public module for BitFocus Companion that any user could download, use, decompile, modify, redistribute is against or current policy.

This may change in the future but for now this is how we want to keep things."

I suspect they have been keeping a very close eye on all things related to L-Acoustics on this repo.

I really hope they come around and allow us as a community to create a plugin for their systems to use in the wild and not limit it to permanent installs in essense. I think this issue (and the others) should be closed as the manufacturer doesn't seem to want to have a companion module for their products at this stage.
