Hisense TV Control (Vidaa OS) #837

Hi, I have a group of Hisense Tvs I would like to control via Companion.

I've spent a bit of time experimenting with what protocols could control the Tv. MQTT is one, however seems to require extra connections to get to work. (attempted and unsuccessful). https://github.com/Krazy998/mqtt-hisensetv explains how MQTT links to Hisense Tvs.

I have further inspected and cannot find any other way to connect, however there are two mobile apps that seem to be capable to control the Tvs without too much hassle. being able to control it via Companion will enable schedules and Tvs to go to particular Inputs as required and greater flexibility. Apps that can control the TVs: RemoteNOW & VIDAA

Today I've realised the Hisense Tvs use an OS called VIDAA. I'm yet to see how the apps communicate to the TVs to turn on the Tvs and change inputs, volumes etc.

Anyone keen on exploring this and working on the connection in Companion would be appreciated as it's currently a little out of my reach from understanding how to make it connect. I am keen to do testing and can provide comprehensive info back when it's being created.

I've made a summary of items in the format from the request page below: Please include with your request:

The name of the device, hardware, or software you would like to control. Hisense Tvs. Model No. 65A7HAU (Australian version)

What you would like to be able to make it do from Companion. Turn on, Turn off, Change Input, Change Volume

Direct links or attachments to the ethernet control protocol or API. Without this, it can be very difficult, and in some cases, impossible to fulfill your request. Hi @josephdadams do you have any suggestions on starts for this integration? I have seen some of your other works and it is impressive. Hopefully we can work out this so I can streamline the workflow for my volunteers as they currently walk around the church, turn on and set inputs and volumes depending on time of service etc.

Our aim is to automate this to free them up for focusing on the experience.

Cheers, Dave.

I'm available for hire to write companion modules, but without that specific model TV, it might be rather difficult to reverse engineer anything if it is not already well documented. You can email me (email is in my Github profile) if you want to discuss it there.

IS there any update with VIDAA TV OS control?

josephdadams commented 1 year ago

@iHaagcom no one has created a module for this yet.
