No connection to Sony FR7 #68

Hello everyone, I'm trying to establish a connection to our FR7, mainly for tally. Unfortunately I can not get it to work. Companion says "Bad Configuration". Am I missing something? Thanks

There are two reasons that are likely to cause that.

Try disabling and re-enabling the connection in the Companion connections tab. If that works it is due to a bug in the current module. I've fixed that bug very recently and will push it to the betas along with some more functionality. It will probably take a couple of weeks though.

The second most likely reason is your camera might not be setup to receive HTTP/RTSP This can either be turned on using the camera menu with the infrared remote control or it can be turned on by flipping the setup dip switch on the back of the camera up.

If neither of those options work then it is likely something a network configuration issue. Are you able to get to the web interface of the camera?

Incidentally, we haven't implemented the Tally feature for companion quite yet, but I'm programming that right now. It's part of a larger re-write to support more options so it probably won't hit the beta version for a couple of weeks and it should be in the next release version.

Hi goseid, thanks for your answer. After disabling and re-enabling I got the connection working. I could activate the tally but after turning it on and of twice it diid not work any more. disabling and re-enabling again got me the same result. It works one or two times, then it's not working any more. Any ideas?

Could it be this timeout?

"Expiration time for an on status of the tally lamp The tally lamp is turned off if not receiving an On command from any controller for 15 seconds after receiving an On command of TALLY ON/OFF. If the tally lamp is lit by an input other than VISCA over IP, such as a tally input from the OPTION connector or a CGI command, the tally lamp will not turn off."**

I don't have a FR7 but I've been testing on my BRC-X400 and the tally works as expected given the 15 second timeout.
