PI IP Adresss from Companion Gui #2981

Is this a feature relevant to companion itself, and not a module?

Hello everyone,

I use Companion on a PI.

Is it possible to add a possibility in the Gui to change the Ip address of the Pi.

I'm not sure if this is something we should do.

I can understand wanting to set the ip from a streamdeck, but from the ui seems like a niche use case. If you already have the ui open, why do you need to change the ip?

I don't think this will be easy to achieve, its probably going to require parsing and rewriting some system files, which I expect won't be particularly simple and will likely only work for certain versions of debian, requiring multiple implementation of that logic.

And as companion-pi users account for ~5% of total users, I am not convinced the cost to develop and maintain this is worthwhile.
