WAN support is already planned for future, but not any time soon (maybe closer to the year end or after it) especially as Cursr works well with free tier of ZeroTier (I use it for my stationary and laptop as stationary doesn't see LAN ranges and I'm too lazy to do the setup) which creates a LAN between devices on different networks.
I assume because ZeroTier creates a LAN interface your work device may not allow it, but maybe still worth a try?
ZeroTier is similar to Tailscale, and while this works, I was hoping to avoid the extra middleware if possible and get it running natively over WAN without any VPNs. Looking forward to this feature once it goes live.
I see, once I'll get closer to implementing this and will be able to define a more clear timeline for it I'll likely put it up on 'upcoming features' in the website, so once you'll see it there you can expect to see it released within few months or so
Sounds good, thank you!
Description
I have a KVM switch for my 2 PC's (work and personal). However, I would like the the ability to move my cursor seamlessly between the 2 PCs on their monitors. I tried using both Cursr and Synergy 3 and they work, however, it required both PC's to be on the same LAN. The problem is my work PC is locked down and unable to join any other networks except the corporate work network. And I am unable to join the corporate work network from my personal PC. Eventually I got it working by installing Tailscale on both PCs. However, is it possible to make it work over WAN instead of LAN? I am only able to setup port forwarding for my home network so would like my personal PC to act as the server and work PC act as the client. My work PC doesn't allow outgoing traffic on non-standard ports (port 24800 included) so I tried changing the port in Synergy to port 80 from the "Miscellaneous" menu for the "Default core port". I also setup port forwarding for port 80 on my home network. However, when I try to add my personal PC to the instance of Synergy running from my work PC using my home's public IP address it doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong? How can I get this to work?
