[x] I have checked for a similar issue and sure it hasn't been reported before.
Describe the bug
When I updated to the newest version after 1.7 was failing me, I've noticed that it refuses to keep the driver open when discord is open. If I quit discord, the EQ works fine. I open discord, and the audio breaks, and when I restart the audio engine, it breaks and won't allow itself to open again.
Steps to Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Open EQmac v1.8.2
Start any audio
Open discord
See error, audio breaks, and EQ won't work until discord closes
Expected behaviour
Until today, EQmac would operate just fine when discord was around, not sure why it hates it now. Well, I know it has to do something with the difference between the 1.7 and 1.8 versions, but besides that I have nothing.
Setup information:
Audio device used for playback: HyperX Cloud Alpha S (Wired)
Audio transmission interface: 3.5mm jack
macOS Version: 14.2.1
eqMac Version 1.8.2
eqMac UI Version (Not sure where to check this, but it's not UI related)
Screenshots or Console.app logs
(What shows up when I try to refresh the engine)
Edit: Here's a crash log I got after re-installing discord and then refreshing the engine again. Been about an hour-ish.

Additional information
I'm on a 2020 Macbook Air
Also, I tried both Discord and Discord Canary, neither worked to fix anything. I might try and go back to the version I had before, it had issues but it could run, at least. Hopefully the problem doesn't persist there.
about 1 hour later: I've restarted my computer a few times now, and EQmac works flawlessly until discord is opened, it then breaks, and won't open correctly again until another restart is done.
next day: I figured something out! It look like it isn't discord, but any app that wants to use the microphone? I turned off access to my mic for discord (and most every app now) and it seems to not break. I haven't been able to get any relevant logs though... only things about coreaudiod being quit.
