Bug: eqMac UI pops up unsolicited every few seconds and steals focus #937

Describe the bug The eqMac UI is popping up on my screen every second or so without any action no matter what I do. It's stealing focus and making my Mac near unusable.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Have eqMac running.
  2. Play some audio. There doesn't seem to be any other trigger. I've tried rebooting, nothing seems to make it go away apart from completely quitting eqMac.

Expected behaviour eqMac's UI should only appear when requsted. It should go away and stay away when dismissed.

Setup information:

Screenshots or Console.app logs Nothing that seems to be applicable. Console contains some "ProcessThrottler::Activity::Activity: Starting foreground activity / 'WebPageProxy::runJavaScriptInFrameInScriptWorld'" lines, but these are no different from actual requested activation.

Additional information None that I know of.

I have the EXACT same problem as above! It started about half an hour ago, on a normally very stable install of EqMac 1.8.7. The only difference is I am on MacOS 13.6.7.

This amazing coincidence makes me think it's either timestamp based, or has to do with EqMac reaching out over the Internet and not finding a resource?

Hmm I just pushed a website update, but that should not affect the app whatsoever... Could you please record a vide of this happening as I can't replicate this on my end.

I updated to 1.8.8. It did not help.

I would not have been able to type this had I not shut EqMac down.

Good work, I should just add I love this program, just to counter the "you-never-get-praise-but-you-hear-the-complaints" thing.
