Two "identical" ESP32's but different output #10

I've two ESP32's (30pin) that look physically identical, both use DOIT ESP32 DEVKIT1 board to program. However on one board the vertical height appears different on the TV, with it being expanded so that the top and bottom 16 pixels or so being chopped off. I'm at a loss at what could cause this. Horizontal looks OK. Is there any adjustment that can be made within the code to allow for this?

Are you able to compare the sync signals on the oscilloscope?

Yes I am, what measurements/comparisons would be most useful to you?

Gaaahhh... I've just fried the ESP32 that was giving the odd result, I've ordered two similar devices for delivery tomorrow (costing a small fortune compared to getting them from China!) and will test them. Hopefully I can replicated the oddity.

OK, I've tried the two new boards and all work fine. So annoyed I've broke the dodgy one. It was a cheap China board that had been sitting on my parts bin for some time and I'd not used before. Could the clock speed have been different on this board? Anyway I'll close the issue now. If I come across it again I'll take measurements first before breaking !

thanks.. I had some fixes for different versions of the esp32 where the apll clock was acting different. but it could also be some kind of strange bug in software that sets the buffers wrong. If you ever see this again please grab a shot of the sync signals if possible
