Bitcoin lost after installing a new wallet #11351

Hi

I bought BTC about 3 years ago and stored it to copay app on my . since than I did not used copay app. I restored my wallet a couple of days ago on my android phone with 12 words, and the restored wallet showed balance 0.

I latter installed an old version and realized the funds as been transferred immediately i installed on my phone.

Below is the transaction ID f0de6eef927d713c09ca4fa1b314a932d87d9e30905d47e074768da8d4dbbe74

Hello, which version / platform are you using? Copay is not distributed on Android due to Google Play restrictions. You can find Bitpay Wallet on Android.

Hello Matiu, Thank you for reaching out.

As indicated about 3 years ago i stored my btc on copay app version v4.4.0 on the windows platform.

I got a new phone last month November,2020 and went through a process to reclaim my btc on new phone.

a)I downloaded the copay app on android , this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.walletmob.pay

b)I then provided my 12 secret words during wallet installation process. (copay - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.walletmob.pay )

I noticed, my balance immediately read zero (0.00 BTC) after going through the installation process of the copay wallet, this alarmed me to send this worring issue.

I tried to investigate:

I then went back to download old version from github, https://github.com/bitpay/copay/releases/tag/v4.4.0

From my old app copay/releases/tag/v4.4.0 from github i noticed this trasaction which i did NOT initiate. https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tx/f0de6eef927d713c09ca4fa1b314a932d87d9e30905d47e074768da8d4dbbe74

This was exactly the time i installed the copay app from android store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.walletmob.pay

Please, could you kindly explain what happened to me?

Adowa I’m having the same problem, I bought cryptocurrency about three years ago. I transferred it to copay and it’s gone??? How do we fix this

Same happened to me. Had it on copay for 2 years, now I've bought a new phone and I tried to import it on copay in the new phone by using the 12 word key. After that my account got reset to 0 and a transaction was issued taking all my BTC. Please help!!

Hi.

The link your are Posting is not Copay wallet. it is a fake app posted by a scammer on Google Play. we have make huge efforts to delete report that app to the stores but keep appearing. I am sorry, but that app is not related to Bitpay or this repository.

Unluckily Google does not allow us to upload Bitpay Wallet and Copay because they share functionalities, strangely Google does allow scammer to upload fake copay and even linking our API from their fake app.
