Hello i have lost app COPAY on my smartphone. than when i try to recover wallet on anothe smartphone with seed phrase, i get wallet with 0 bitcoins and no one transaction!

what have i do to recover my coins in your wallet?!!!

JulianTosh commented 6 years ago

I am about to report a problem with the current release. There seems to be a bug in the recovery routine. I suggest you download a previous version to your desktop to recover your funds. Pick an older version of the client that matches when you created the account for best results. Go by date perhaps. Releases are here: https://github.com/bitpay/copay/releases

@JulianTosh,

Got it working funds still not visible.

JulianTosh commented 6 years ago

Are you 100% positive you're using the same version you created the wallet with? Might not hurt to go back one or two more revisions. Also, try the "official" recovery tool: https://bitpay.github.io/copay-recovery/

Just shots in the dark. I hope something works for you.

enzokv commented 6 years ago

@enzokv we checked your wallet a03ac8bf-5107-4f24-a1fa-fc4c7fc720c8 and it has no funds. You should recover the wallet you sent the funds to.

@corn91791 could you please explain yourself?

Thank you all.

@enzokv Your wallet ID is unique. It is used to identify univocally a wallet. 1 wallet = 1 Id what you are posing is not possible. Having two wallets with the same ID would be a huge "bug" You can find the releases here: https://github.com/bitpay/copay/releases

enzokv commented 6 years ago

Ok. So how seed phrase from wallet which was Ok and we saw funds there, after crash recover absolutely another wallet??? Im in panic 😋

I can t find version 3.9.0 there. Can you send me direct link at this VS for Android

@enzokv As far as we know, that is not possible. You can find version 3.9.0 here: https://github.com/bitpay/copay/releases/tag/v3.9.0

There is no direct link for Android. To try that you should follow the "Testing on real devices" section of the copay repository readme (https://github.com/bitpay/copay)

Anyways, I do not recommend you to do this, since it is a very complicated procedure.

What you can better do is download a desktop version of the app (3.9.0) or whatever version you need. Regarding the funds, there is no reason that should work on an older version of the app.

For Issues with 13-word wallets (extended passphrase), this might be useful.

If we can further help, let us know.

i understand it. but how can be possible this chain?

1-create wallet and save 12words 2-transfer funds to wallet and see coins in this wallet 3-delete app from smartphone 4-install latest app from official site to desktop 5-recover wallet with 12words from #1 and get wallet with 0 funds and 0 transaction? unfortunatelly i cant compare ID 1st wallet and ID recovered wallet=( my friend dnt save 1st ID

why is it possible? im also cant understand it but situation is like a describe=)

enzokv commented 6 years ago

update! try to install version 3.9 and 3.7. what can i do to clear all data from desctop. because when i install app there is already wallet.

and one thing

in information about wallet there is "derivation strategy" i see BIP44. please help me in next moment

how can i recover wallet with 12words using exactly BIP39? some version of app or recover servise of copay?

BGalliotti commented 6 years ago

@enzokv there must be something wrong,

i understand it. but how can be possible this chain?..

we insist this is not possible. Other than that, the ID does not change, it remains the same.

Regarding the desktop app data, for now, I do not have an answer, You can try installing the wallet in a different location. Anyways you can simply delete the wallet.

BIP39 has nothing to do with BIP44. You can restore your wallet with the 12-words perfectly.

Please see the following article for steps on restoring your wallet using the recovery phrase: https://support.bitpay.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003004363-I-lost-my-wallet-or-changed-my-phone-What-can-I-do-to-restore-my-wallet-

If you are experiencing an issue, here are some things that you can check:

Please also ensure that your words are all contained in the following list of possible words: https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt
