The GUI requires you to create a contact to send to a public key. This is an annoying requirement, because you may be sending to a "one-time" key. There's also no easy way from the GUI to see the public key associated with that contact to double check it (you have to go to the console to do so). And the GUI displays the transaction using the contact name, when you really might prefer it showing with the public key.
