ArcaOS includes CFGAPPS to handle assignment of default internet applications. When Firefox 38.8 is installed with ArcaOS, the setting for default browser is set to %PROGRAMS%\firefox\firefox!lk.exe, and the working directory is set to %PROGRAMS%\firefox (unless SeaMonkey has been selected as the default browser, of course).
It would be nice if when installing the FF RPM this setting were updated (assuming it has been set to Firefox). Alternatively, this should be made clear to the user that links which opened in 38.8 may not work if 38.8 has been removed and the Default Internet Applications applet has not been updated to point to the correct place.
I wanted to leave the subject rather broad. This is a general packaging concerns ticket.
Currently, the 45.9 rpm creates:
First, to the above list of folder contents, we should add:
(with their respective icons)
Next, the folder itself ideally should lose the version number in its title (please comment). The problem, of course, comes when we have systems with existing Firefox folders and shadows. So, perhaps we should maintain the version number for the folder (at least we can be reasonably assured that the name is unique), locate any other Firefox* folders, and create shadows of the new folder in those locations. Overkill? I'm happy with just creating a shadow of the folder in Installed Programs.
The desktop shadow should go, IMO, and should replace any Firefox shadow located in Network (at least). While maintaining old versions is fine, I would fully expect that someone installing the new version would want to use that by default and not the other way around.
