Investigate proof of concept for vector vizualisation.

Aim for a self-contained gallery example for the community.

update on streamlines ...

~Consider streamline as a stretch goal (Stephen Worsley) collaboration.~ I'm pretty confident now that streamlines are substantially more complicated (because you require additional info to determine how they should be built). So we now have a separate issue #675
