Cannot Access my Control Panel or Login to Phpmydirectory

When trying to access my CP i am getting this error

License Error There was a problem validating your software license.

Verify your license code is in defaults.php Try reissueing your license. If you still receive problems, please contact support.

Refresh

When trying to access the phpmydirectory website to reissue my license i am getting this error

Critical Error Could not connect to the database.

Urgent please advise what is going on. My website is my livelihood!!

I had the same problem. Looks like his servers are down so you can't validate your license.

I resolved this by downloading the open source zip here and replacing in my old /cp folder: index.php and admin_index.php You may have to delete or comment out line 89 $template_content->set('email_queue_moderate',$PMDR->get('Email_Queue')->getCountModerated()); which gave me an error. I do not what it does, but I was able to log in after that.

I am using version 1.5.3 and believe you won't need the license anymore after this. I have tried installing the full open source zip here but it did not work for me.

I just had a look at your recommendation. A few points

I do not see an admin_index.php on the open source website.

The index.php does not have the line

$template_content->set('email_queue_moderate',$PMDR->get('Email_Queue')->getCountModerated());

I did a search of the file on the open source website.

Not sure what version I am using but it’s pretty old. Additionally I am using a custom template.

So you are saying that I just upload the index.php to my site from the open source code and it should fix things?

I uploaded the index.php from the opensource code to my site and it made no difference. I am still getting the license error.

@damicron: Hi, I had same issue, that admin area was not accessable anymore. I uploaded the index and admin_index to cp folder, deleted the line 89 in admin_index, and: It works. Thanks so much for your help here in this thread. Alex

The original /cp/index.php and /cp/admin_index.php were encrypted. The opensource is version 1.5.3 and it is not encrypted and they removed the license requirement.

You need to replace both files in the /cp folder. The file to delete or comment out the line is in the admin_index.php

Good morning!

Just encountered a problem after the fix!

When trying to add a new listing location the redirect reverts to the license code error again.

Has anyone encountered this problem and have any suggestions?

Les, I got the license error but I just clicked on locations again and it went away.

I do get an error when deleting the location, by which I went into admin_location.php and removed the offending code.

My admin just gave me the license can't be validated error. And also I can't get to phpmydirectory.com nor the manual nor the forum.

I don't see the link to download the opensource version. I'm on 1.5.1 so I'm hoping I can make that work if you can provide the link to the opensource code. I've tried emailing Ben at ben@phpmydirectory.com. I'm just hoping he gets my message and fixes it.

Ben said he would never require license validation if he shut down the server, so this is very upsetting. My whole career is on this Directory! It's horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
