Effective index of slot waveguides lower than expected #9
The calculated effective index of slot waveguides using inc_shape = 'slot' is much less than expected.
For example, in Tutorial 7, the Arsenic Sulfide core (n=2.44) is sandwiched between Silicon (n=3.48) walls on a Silica substrate. The predicted effective index of the mode pictured is 1.45. The effective index predicted by COMSOL is around 1.6
The issue persists even with a finer mesh and/or different thickness of the wall.

The same issue is present in the active fork maintained by @michaeljsteel, but I am unable to open an issue there. https://github.com/michaeljsteel/NumBAT
