Some of my Thai monk friends are interested in the Buddhist Sun app. What would you need for a Thai version? I could translate whatever vocabulary you need, if you are interested.

If you can, please download this file here. https://github.com/bksubhuti/buddhist_sun/blob/master/lib/l10n/app_th.arb Change / Replace the items on the right. Leave the quotes.. some languages (like chinese) have different quotes and they don't work. Be careful for codes like /n (slash n). Leave those.. That means "new line"

Try to conserve space where space is an issue. Look at the English layout installed on your phone and decide how much room is available.

and send to me. You can add to your google drive and send me a link. If you know how to do PR.. then you can do that this way as well.

Once this file is complete. The language should work with less than a few minutes work. We can do other languages like lao or khmr as well.

We have some monks who speak Thai here and can handle it. It will be better to do here because we will submit the release ios this weekend.

I just got started, but hopefully it will help. I could ask one of the native Thai monk here to check the final version if that would be helpful.

Looks pretty good, just a few small things.

"noon": "เที่ยง กลางวัน": เที่ยง (lit.: vertical) can mean either noon or midnight. If you add วัน (day) that's the word for noon. กลางวัน means during the day. So Thais would understand but it's not idiomatic.

"late": "ช้า" It does mean late but usually in a more relative sense. Thai monks would say something like เลยเที่ยง (past noon) instead.

พวกเขาไม่มีนาฬิกาในสมัยพุทธกาล: uses the word for 'they' used with lay people. ในสมัยพุทธกาลไม่มีนาฬิกา is more appropriate

So ผู้ที่ปฏิบัติตามพระวินัยของพระสงฆ์จะไม่ได้รับอนุญาตให้ฉันหรือรับประทานอาหารหลังเที่ยงวัน covers both monks and lay people รับประทาน or ฉัน

เพื่อให้รู้ว่าใกล้เที่ยงวันไหน: just a typo. Should be: เพื่อให้รู้ว่าใกล้เที่ยงวันไหม

กฎจะขึ้นอยู่กับดวงอาทิตย์ ณ จุดสุดยอดบนท้องฟ้ามากกว่านาฬิกา: There's a word for 'standard', (ประมาณ, from pali pamāṇa) like to take the sun as the standard, which would fit well here. ดวงอาทิตย์ ณ จุดสุดยอดบนท้องฟ้าเป็นประมาณมากกว่านาฬิกา

Sometimes it has GPS and sometimes the Thai transliteration, จีพีเอส. Thais usually use Roman letters for such things these days. In fact, almost all brand names and titles for lots of things are in English and everybody knows enough English to understand. That's why I just left the app name as Buddhist Sun.

The app "as is" is released on the android app store. Please have your teacher finish the job soon.. The ios release was delayed.. it was supposed to released this weekend.. but the helper says he can do by this thursday.. but that means "anytime between now and Thursday"

Here is the final version. He worked on it in Word and sent it back to me as a docx. I cut and pasted to create a text file but I'm also including the docx in case of problems. I hope everything works.

I pushed the changes. Next time.. use a generic editor like notepad and turn off word wrap. However, It only took a few minutes to fix. I think the Apple was not built yet.. which is good.
