installing, upgrading, running conflict. #84

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Force remove
2.Update
3.Upgrade
4.Finally manually removed and cleaned up, had to add a repository to get it. 
manually installing caused the apt to try to "upgrade" and broke the package 
every time.Pre-reqs were there, reinstalled all of them, same issue.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
wont open, after manually fixing it, had to add right click context menu to 
sudo the start up, then it works, doesnt "ask for authentication".

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ver of fern - 1.6 on a lucid fully updated system. ubuntu/debian based, no 
tweaks or configs out of the ordinary.

Please provide any additional information below.
