Missing letters in the hungarian layout #245

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
If I'm not mistaken currently the Hungarian layout uses the default
altchars.xml, which is a problem because of two reasons:
1) two letters is missing, namely ő and ű
2) we have a lots of unused letters for example 'äàâãåāæ' in case of
'a', which makes it hard to find the only needed letter, namely 'á'

It would be much better if it can use it's own donttranslate-altchars.txt like
this:

<resources xmlns:xliff="urn:oasis:names:tc:xliff:document:1.2">
    <string name="alternates_for_a">á</string>
    <string name="alternates_for_e">é</string>
    <string name="alternates_for_i">í</string>
    <string name="alternates_for_o">óöő</string>
    <string name="alternates_for_u">úüű</string>
</resources>

I checked again the other layouts, and probably this version is better:
<resources xmlns:xliff="urn:oasis:names:tc:xliff:document:1.2">
    <string name="alternates_for_a">á</string>
    <string name="alternates_for_b"></string>
    <string name="alternates_for_c"></string>
    <string name="alternates_for_d"></string>
    <string name="alternates_for_e">3é</string>
    <string name="alternates_for_f"></string>
    <string name="alternates_for_g"></string>
    <string name="alternates_for_h"></string>
    <string name="alternates_for_i">8í</string>
...

I also checked the default donottranslate-keymap.xml-s and it looks good if we
want to preserve the QWERTY layout.
In Hungary the QWERTZ layout is more common, but for example in CyanogenMod
they use QWERTY.
I don't think it's a big issue though.

Sorry about the late response - I'm importing this as of revision 85827a985346,
and it should be included in the next version.

Please try v1.34rc4 (or later) from
http://code.google.com/p/hackerskeyboard/downloads/list, and let me know if
that works for you.

I don't think that removing the extra characters was a good idea. Especially
for Ä ä ß which are frequently used german letters and à ì ù witch are
the GSM-alphabet compatible versions of á í and ú.

v1.34rc15 contains updated Hungarian 4-row and 5-row layouts, both qwertz +
qwerty, contributed by Bognár András. (Thanks!)

Can you please try this and let me know if it works for you?

I'm happy with the last update, the Hungarian keyboard layout is almost
perfect. I found only one problem in it after a day of use:

Full 5 row layout.
When I switch to uppercase with 'Shift' key, the caption on the key for
character 'f' changes to 'FF' (two uppercase F letters instead of one) without
bold emphase.
But, when Caps Lock activated with double tap on 'Shift' (or with single tap
from already activated Shift state), the caption is perfect again, one
uppercase 'F' letter with bold emphase as on other keys.
Changing back to lowercase from Shift or Caps Lock state it perfect too, single
lowercase bold 'f' printed on the key again.
Pressing that key always enters the right character independently of wrong
caption.

Tested it portrait and landscape, too. On a Nexus 5 and a Nexus 7 (2012).
See attached picture. This shows the Shift state with the wrong caption on the
key.

P.s.: 'later' answer and/or update is much better than 'never'! :-)
Thank your for your work and time!

The "FF" label should be fixed in v1.34rc17. Thanks for reporting the issue.

Nexus 7 android 4.4-en futtatva tökéletesnek tűnik, de dosbox-ban az "á"
"é" stb. helyen nem ad semmit. A keyb hu bekapcsolása nem segít. (852).
Visszatérve az angolra jól beállítható, egyedül a nullát kellet áttenem
máshová, mert "ö" betűt adott.
Lehet át kell valamit állítani, vagy dos alatt még nincs megoldva az új
magyar kiosztás?

[bulk bug update]

The changes from the 1.34rcX prerelease series are included in version 1.37 as
published on the Play Store, and this bug should be fixed. If it's still not
working for you, please reopen or file a new bug. Thanks to everyone who helped
with finding bugs and testing!

Seems like working like a charm on nexus 7 (android 4.4), but i using dosbox
emulator for running my old dos application there were a problems. When i run
dosbox and i use the hungarian layout the hungarian "á" "é" and any other
hungarian keys doesn't work , seems like the application (dosbox) cant get any
input from these keys. But if i switch back to english it works. Under dosbox i
set up the emulated dos keyboard layout (codepage 852) with "keyb hu" command
in autoexec file. So if i using the hackerskeyboard with the english layout
under dosbox if i press for example the ";" key its write regular hungarian
"é" character, its ok and it is the proper working method if hungarians use
english keyboards. But if i switch to hungarian layout in hackerskeyboard other
applications like dosbox doesn't get any input from these hungarian keys.
