Rich and the Internationalization team recommend against using #
in the UI for the same reasons as &
. I think we should provide general guidance about avoiding alphanumeric characters in place of words for consistency and to avoid translation problems and use &
and #
as specific examples.
Not sure exactly where to document this, but at a UA guidelines meeting, we agreed to avoid ampersands and use "and" instead. This enforces consistency, and since ampersands can pose problems for translation, it avoids those problems. Need to find a location in the SKY UX docs to call this out, and also update internal Blackbaud guidelines.
