On 2.1.0.9, it is only when the project is viewed by the user that WW will check to see if the project needs to be upgraded. The upgrade message only shows up after 3-7sec at the top of the configuration page. If the user happens to be at a different part of the page or even the build/plugins page, they will never see the message that an upgrade is available.
A message hovering at the bottom or somewhere would be helpful.
