As a member of the Pelagios community, I want to access BDDA gazetteers that are aligned with the Pelagios Network, so I can integrate the geospatial and prosopographical data in the BDDA with other linked resources. #8
For representing geospatial information, Vincent.Ducatteeuw@UGent.be recommended OpenAtlas.
What might be of interest to you is the OpenAtlas project, an open source application for archeological, historical and geospatial data that uses CIDOC CRM entities for the majority of its data model. The OA model can be found here and a mapping between OA and CIDOC CRM is provided here. I suspect the OA data model could be a match for the needs of your project.
I've begun to explore it, and I'm finding it very promising. I don't yet know the relationship of OA to CRMgeo.
