My DX7 says: "MEMORY PROTECT CHECK SUM ERROR!" whenever I tri and send patches from the editor. Tried two different MIDI-devices. Same result.

Does this happen with a specific cart or does it happen with any cart, even with a blank one (Menu > New Voice Cart)?
