I find the vocabulary section very awkward to try to use right now. Given, that's likely because I am trying to learn written Japanese prior to actually knowing spoken Japanese. However, I think there's a potential to make this work.
Essentially, if given a word like 口ごもる, I can't practically go for word->meaning without first going through word->reading. I find it awkward to have to pick going through either of them first, separate from the other. Ideally, I would be able to see and memorize all 3 - word, reading, and meaning - at once.
I think that could be accomplished quite easily by adding a setting to show Furigata on the Kanji in vocabulary mode; however, since I'm not sure if that data is available in an easily used format, an easier option might be to show both the word and the meaning at once. For instance instead of showing just "口ごもる", show "口ごもる (くちごもる)",
If this is something you would merge, I'm willing to try to implement it. I may do it anyway for my own use.
I wouldn't put it in the global settings. It might be an option to put a check box or a button in the right corner for word to meaning. While the button is pressed the reading is shown.
