This issue seems to be quite pervasive. It happens in blendOS v3 as well. See #114 for a similar issue.
After I installed gnome I found that it did not had any languages or regions, a internet search told me I needed to generate the locales so I edited locales.gen and ran sudo locale-gen which told me cannot create temporary file: /usr/lib/locale/locale-archive.sgsgs: read only filesystem.
@RudraSwat we should look into this.
