About recommending the use of balenaetcher #4

Etcher automatically sends things such as IP addresses and analytics data back to balena, and you can't disable it until after it has already started phoning home. Etcher also includes advertising, which entails more privacy concerns on top of the other things I mentioned.

Arch Wiki section on this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/USB_flash_installation_medium#Using_etcher

Tools like GNOME Multiwriter, Kindd, or Popsicle all accomplish the intended goal of writing the ISO to USB, and don't do this stuff. As for not recommending Rufus, I don't know the circumstances on why you don't, but it worked for me on the latest Plasma ISO

We have added DD as an option.

Also I will reiterate we have moved the source code to our gitlab server (signups require admin approval for now)

We find Rufus causes issues but Rufus in DD mode would work.

We also prefer to support cross platform and/or popular solutions.

If you want to use something else, use it.
