Hey, I startet the same plugin some time ago (mainly as proof of concept) but I implemented image upload so far. May be you can get some ideas for your plugin: https://github.com/BugHunter2k/grav-plugin-fred

Thanks for pointing me to your plugin. Amazing how different our solutions are! Before I start bug hunting myself, did your plugin work? Have you tried it with a recent Grav version? I installed Fred but saving and uploading doesn't work on a clean Grav install.
