Reaver unable to associate with AP problem #438

In the past my connection was WEP crypted and it took me 20secs to find my key
so i naturally changed to WEP and now i want to try to test its vulnerability
but whenever i try to crack it via Reaver, it says I can't associate to AP
I tried running with -A command and associating with airplay-ng but it gave a
denied association error (12, or only wrong essid or WPA)
The thing is that i use the same USB wireless card that I use to connect to the
internet which is and Alfa AWUS036H which is totally compatible and I got a
7dBi antenna in front of my router so it can't be a signal problem
I also tried to change the MAC with -macchanger to the MAC of the wireless card
of my other pc which is also connected to the same wifi
No matter what I do, I can't find a way to associate to the AP
