Make Blink 15 available on Mac App Store for ARM machines as Iphone & Ipad Apps #1420

Open UlTriX opened 2 years ago

UlTriX commented 2 years ago

Blink 14 (now Legacy) is available to download and install on ARM machines but not the new Blink 15.

I believe will be very easy to make it available.

Thank you.

We are working on it, it is easy but still requires a couple changes due to the new popups and stuff.

I'd like to see blink 15 on mac because blink 14 getting very unstable on mac now

+1 to this request. I have no reason to use a terminal locally on my mac, but I have every reason to use Blink as a mosh + ssh terminal client. Please make this available for us on the mac-accessible store.

If you need testers, support, or otherwise, I offer my m1 air. šŸ˜„

@carloscabanero Will this be solved?

At the moment, I cannot make Blink for Mac a priority until it makes sense from a resources perspective. For Blink to justify its existence on the Mac, it has to appeal to the broader macOS audience - otherwise it will just be a niche feature for an already niche app.

Current macOS terminal apps are already well-established. Blink offers a great and very unique experience on iOS, but competing with existing macOS terminals in this highly tailored space is a hard sell. The ecosystem has matured with specific needs, and those needs are already being met.

That said, Iā€™m exploring some ideas and we will see some small experiments in the iOS side. I think there is space for a proper remote terminal, specially as we make some workflows easier. The Terminal is the tool, the workflows are the value. Whether itā€™s easier SSH and Mosh setups, or making connections to cloud platforms simpler, thereā€™s definitely room for improvement.

I hope this gives some clarity, and Iā€™d really appreciate any ideas or feedback you might have! I need to feel more confident that we can offer something truly unique and deliver enough value to justify the investment.

PS: Some people have suggested to ā€œjust build it as-is for the Macā€. That isnā€™t a viable option anymore, and it will still require considerable time and money. Some apps have tried the cross-platform approach, but I often see that they donā€™t already excel on iPad/iPhone, and they just try to check the box on the Mac. I wonā€™t do that.
