Difference in versions between github / composer and magento connect #328

Hi,

Magento connect gives Version number: 0.9.2.1 Stability: Stable Compatibility: 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 Composer/github has release 0.9.0.1

Is the composer github repo somehow begind what was released on magento connect? Can you please make a release 0.9.2.1 for composer.

Would be much appreciated

It seems that the MagentoConnect version has been left behind as on GitHub you might find the more recent versions 1.0.0 WorkInProgress and 1.0,0 WIP-Edge... Please note, as stated on MagentoConnect too, that, even if stated as "STABLE", they ALL are BETA RELEASES and no one is STABLE (it was the only way for the developer to have it published...). Please note you will need to be ready for a restore, as troubles with this module are quite easy, unless you have a plain installation with no other modules... But, once you solve some small problems, it will work very well and you won't be able to leave it... (this is the reason it's a standard feature of Magento 2.0...) Good luck.

Hi,

I am fully aware of version 1.0.0, and I am not looking for that. And no, it does not look to me like magento connect was 'left behind' it is a version AHEAD in the 0.9 version range.

Github and composer = 0.9.0.1 Magento connect = 0.9.2.1

We are not looking to use the beta 1.0.0 at this stage. I am foing a full m1 version update to latest, and not looking to add additional complexity at this point by using a beta 1.0.0 version.

Would seem to me that either the version on magento connect is incorrectly versioned, or the developer has released a new version in the 0.9.x.x range, but never pushed and released that via github

The version you are looking for is BETA too... All versions past v0.9.0.1 are still BETA... If you are not going to look for a BETA, then stay on v0.9.0.1...

Ok. Does not answer my question.

I am upgrading a site for a client. I simpky want to use composer to effect the upgrade.

Looks like my question is ignored.

I will simply go with the package available from magento connect which is a couple of versions AHEAD of what is in github.

Why in earth would i downgrade the module?

Is it so difficult to understand the question? Yes i know 1.9 is also considered beta. I did not ask about that. Yes i know verion 1.0.0 is beta but it is still a wip. As far as i can read not entirely ready, still very experimental.

Are you the developer?

I simply wsnted to know why magento connect has a newer version than what is available via composer. Surely that is not so difficult to understand?

I apprecuate your effort abd input. But it simply does not answer tge question asked in this ticket.

  1. I'm a user, like you are. No connection with the developer of any kind (unfortunately).
  2. I use this product too and I think there could be some improvements, but...
  3. The developer seems having abandoned this project long ago (no news since more than one year ago), and no answers to any question...
  4. It is easily understandable: this feature is standard on M2...
  5. Since I do not plan moving to M2 soon, I keep an eye on this, should something useful come out...
  6. The more "recent" versions you are wishing to get in composer are just "cosmetic" updates, as there is nothing more than PHP dependancies fixing. Last but not least: I'm sorry you do not get the answers you are looking for, but for this, you should get your ticket with you number and... wait on the line... :-DDD

To be more precise, the two latest versions only "... fit semantic versioning 2.0.0!"

As stated here: https://www.versioneye.com/php/connect20:bl_customgrid/0.9.2.1

Hope this helps...

No worries.

I did not realise it was abandoned. I chstted with the dev about a year ago. There were some incompatibilities berwwen this and one of my modules.

He was very responsive at that time.

I do appreciate your input. I reslly do. Just on a tight scheduke to get the upgrade done. And client will ask why version went backwards. So i will just stick with the connect version.
