For anyone else encountering this, adding a single Swift file to the project in Xcode (I called it "Dummy.swift" and accepted Xcode's suggestion to add a bridging header) resolved it.

I think the root cause is that this library now uses Swift, and in some older Flutter projects you may be otherwise only depending on Objective-C, for example having an AppDelegate.m instead of an AppDelegate.swift.
