LLRP connection appears to require a PORT number being entered on configuration (the underlying message on that bit reads "Port Optional"). This is true in both 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 versions. Port number is not needed to connect an Alien reader in version 1.1.3
I think what's needed here is to ensure that the default port is used. Need to investigate further.
