On rapid transits positional dilation of the light curve will cause uncertainty. Once can use two halves, and calculate two fixes, a day (mirroring a half day response).

Find daily midpoint of the diurnal profile
Split the time series
For a morning and evening half mirror the profiles
This would work in GMT in all positions close to this GMT. Close to the date time line one would need to work in local solar time, i.e. establish twilight events in the morning and evening first.
