Pixel 6 Pro/Android 13 - Intermittent No signal strength in Status Bar icon

Describe the bug Intermittently for long periods of time, signal strength appears as -- in status bar icon.

To Reproduce Intermittent

Expected behavior Should always show sign strength as option enabled in SC Settings

I've also sent in a diagnostics report; I'm having the same issue with the same A13/P6P combo. Mine's not intermittent, though. I have only seen "--" for signal strength in the notification icon since upgrading.

This appears to be an Android 13 bug. Please "+1" the bug report on the Android Issue Tracker to help generate attention and hopefully a prompt fix:

I can confirm that this bug also affects the Samsung Galaxy s22 Ultra as I just recently got the Android 13 update. "+1" within the link provided above but it seems like Google hasn't successfully worked out a bug fix as of yet given that this report was initiated two months ago (Aug. 28).

The signal strength is displayed as "--" on the status bar icon on oneplus android 12 and 13 as well.

Unfortunately the issue is not resolved with the Android 13 December 2022 update; still no word from the Android developer team. Please "+1" the report on the Issue Tracker from the link above if you have not done so, it the best way to attract attention to it.

As noted on Reddit, for me the secondary icon works about 50% of the time on my Pixel 7 running Android 14 with the January 2024 patch. I sent two diagnostics reports as requested by @mikejeep. One with the secondary icon working and one with it not working. When the secondary icon is working, any time a notification from Signal Check Pro is received the icon changes to the cell tower icon and once the notification is cleared the secondary icon is broken. Unfortunately, I did not find the exact circumstances when the secondary icon works correctly, I just wait and eventually it shows.
