This resource is doubtless in the registry, but to make it easier...
All of these have MODS records behind them:
http://lcweb2.loc.gov/diglib/ihas/search?query=*%3A*&view=thumbnail&submit=GO&sort=titlesort
Most "item" pages have a link at the bottom for MODS/XML but if not, just use this pattern:
http://lcweb2.loc.gov/diglib/ihas/{4-node-identifier}/mods.xml
For example:
http://lcweb2.loc.gov/diglib/ihas/loc.natlib.gottlieb.002/mods.xml
Now, many records in this collection come from MARC records from our ILS and, in those cases, I'd predict a high match rate with names in LC/NAF. However, at least half of the MODS records do not come from the ILS and so may carry many names not found in LC/NAF.
Another one:
http://lcweb2.loc.gov/diglib/vhp/search?query=*%3A*&field=all&digitalCollection=yes
In the hit list, select "View Digital Collection" and, once on the page, append "mods.xml" to the end of the URL.
For example:
http://lcweb2.loc.gov/diglib/vhp/story/loc.natlib.afc2001001.80394/mods.xml
Now, roughly 96.4% or more of the names in this collection of material will not match LC/NAF names.
k.
I can also contribute some MODS records used in Columbia's digital projects, where we have a mix of LC/NAF names, those that did not have an authority record, some where the name may match an authority but it is not the same person (no distinguishing information available), etc.
Per Kevin Ford's comment the other day, I think it would be useful for us to gather some additional sample MODS records beyond those from Academic Commons. Obviously the MODS Registry is a good place to start, but are there other places/methods for finding MODS "in the wild"?
