Hi, I saw this box im use by the PNG Pilot and was thinking about this as feature since some time already :) For the GUI, as we don't have a manual interaction and are not limited to physical switches may be there is a more suitable way to implement it. The basic idea for the items and to 'check' them must remain- we are not limited to 2 rows with a computer GUI if no toggle switches are involved. I appreciate your usability suggestions - helps to make it a workable feature! Anyway thank you for the call and watch this place ... Regs
Awesome, thanks!

True, but you also don't want to make something big and convoluted, otherwise you may as well just use the inbuilt checklists. The whole point is to have a "Checklist Box" that is super easy to use in a potentially stressful environment and "just right" in terms of item coverage, but doesn't stray into the zone of information overload.
The checklist box is just a physical implementation of MNEMONIC REMINDERS like https://airwebster.com/2018/03/04/why-i-love-cigar-tips-aka-cciggarr-tipps or https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2000/february/flight-training-magazine/mnemonic-reminders so shouldn't be too big either.
Also customizable based on general aircraft category, not specific plane type: ie: Piston, Turboprop, Small Jet, Large Jet etc
Early Dev - I prefer it vertical - side panel, fits usually better and is less obstructiv but still a personal preference.. the Mock Texts are from the PNG Pilot Logic is 'Airbus' Lights Off is OK - you may check them in any order but usually top down I assume (It is up to the user) When all are checked it gets a dark greenish background
There are up to 4 Phases (e.g. Takeoff, Cruise, Descend, Land) with up to 10 Checks each for any number of Checklists Nothing is mandatory and all texts editable. Context Menu to change the Phases and Checklists, use Config etc.
Nice!
Is it possible to make the side panel scaleable, or at least different sizes (small/med/large)?

I like that!
An unobtrusive "meta checkbox" where you could select one (exclusive, only one at a time) to display that checklist (or none) might be useful as well. Pops the checklist up below the meta box. Would save going down to the Hudbar to hunt and peck for something you might use quite often during the training phase of reinforcement learning. The easier it is to use, the more likely it is to be used.
I could think of a 5th checklist too: Emergency. You could populate it with a generic Aviate, Navigate. Communicate and/or add some specific items related to a specific type of emergency training you are undergoing (for example, atm I'm starting on Multi-engine single engine failure procedures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_KGu2CFUU4 )
Nice one with latest beta. Looks good, config simple enough, very configurable. Let me play with it for a while and see how the UX goes. Thanks!
How does it look like? I am about to get it out to FlightSim.to thanks for taking time with it.
I used it for a long bush flight on the weekend. Seemed ok, no big issues.
Might be useful if it reopened the last used checklist, it seems to default to the first one? Might also be nice to snap to window border if possible, atm it can slide off screen.
Nothing more atm. Nice, ty.
Hudbar is looking good, and useful, thanks!
I have a suggestion to add to the UX, that is a great fit for Hudbar.
Could you implement something like a generic virtual checklist box for the top level aircraft types, like piston/turbine/jet?
Similar to https://www.missionarybushpilot.com/checklistbox
Although you have individual MSFS checklists you can go through on an aircraft basis, this type of checklist is more generic and instils checklist discipline through a repeatable generic checklist of the major things to always check per flight phase.
Best way would be a pop out panel you can select to show, like the new camera panel, but it remembers the state between subsequent close/opens.
Use cases are typically for take off and landing, sequence being: . On take off you would open the panel for the type of aircraft you are flying . Flip the switches down as you process the checklist . Close checklist panel and takeoff (or dismiss after takeoff), but it remembers the state of the switches . On entering landing phase, open the checklist box for the aircraft type . Process the checklist and flip the switches . Close checklist box before or after landing.
Some points: . A checklist box reset button would be useful to reset all to take off state (all buttons up) for interrupted flights (crash, restart etc) . Switches don't need to be physically big but you need some physical input and visual display to interact and clearly show which state the switch is pointing to ie: Take off the are all "up" and get progressively flipped "down" as you process the sequence. . A way to customise the labels so people can tune it to their preference or language. (no translation files needed!) . Might be nice to be able to customise the number of slots to maybe 10 (don't want too many). I'm thinking here it could be useful to add certain risk reinforcement items like "Check controls free" for take off, especially after watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjZQM2MeqIQ
