@annevk Node will implement it, but can't rely on it.
If only Node implements it standardizing it would be way premature.
@annevk I think is in disagreement with other comments about being preemptive from @adamroach and @allenwb in ( https://github.com/bmeck/I-D/issues/1#issuecomment-322545837 ).
Is there a concern that the parameter will have differing behavior if it was adopted by other platforms? Or is it just a lack of implementations using this parameter? There is an odd position that https://github.com/whatwg/html/pull/3205 does have some support from Firefox at least, and Node.
This discussion probably should be move to the mailing list.
I'm not sure what more can be said on list. No one has expressed the harm in having the "goal" parameter, and some have expressed potential benefit. Registrations can be changed (albeit with yet-another-document) if it turns out this is not useful.
The harm in prematurely standardizing something is that if it gets deployed and ignored by implementations, you cannot ever really rely on it.
In #16 it became apparent that maybe nobody plans to implement goal. If that's the case I don't think we should add it.
