Here is an example for nih_education
The description
The nih_education
data element is the result of the harmonization of several other RADx program-specific data elements: edu_years_of_school
(RADx-UP); education
(RADx-TECH); and, dht_education
(RADx-DHT). RADx-rad studies do not have a corresponding data element.
The nih_education
data element records a response to the question, or equivalent question, "What is the highest level of education you have acheived outside or in the United States". Equivalent questions are, "What is the highest grade or level of school you have completed or the highest degree you have received?" (RADx-TECH)
This is a single valued data element. The values for this data element are integers that come from a predefined enumeration of allowable values.
Users of this data element's data should be aware that the data value 97
, "Other" only has a corresponding option in RADx-UP and RADx-DHT studies. Moreover, the data value 97
, "Other" is context specific. Its meaning is specific to the options provided to participants in specific studies and hence specific RADx programs. The meaning of the value 97
MUST be discerned by examining the equivalent non-harmonized data.
