Maybe what she means is what versions of popular browsers will support Java 6?
I think other students opted to specify the browser brands/versions that support Java. We can do the same.
That seems very unnecessary.
What we can do, in the user's guide, is link people to the Oracle page that checks the user's Java version and offers to update them if it's not the latest (I think we might do that already). I'm not really a fan of writing up which browser supports a Java plug in (answer: just about any modern one) and which ones don't, because we're not really here to provide technical support for the browsers. That's well beyond our scope.
Added line for thoroughness: A List of browsers that support Java can be found at this link. http://java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml
Reviewer Katherine Wolfe says, "One question I had after reading your documentation was whether there were any browser restrictions, or if your project was optimized for a particular browser. All I see about compatibility is the Java JRE version."
Response: To my knowledge, there shouldn't be any browser restrictions provided the browser can run Java. I plan to go ahead and add a line about repeating the system test with a couple of different major browsers, but I believe that with Java, the Java version is more significant than the browser version. Am I off base here?
