Binance is proud to be partnering with Gitcoin on Binance Smart Chain Hackathon: Sailing Into The Future, a 3-week virtual hackathon event that features $30,000 in cash prizes We invite talented developers, builders, and creatives from around the world to build the next generation of projects for Binance Smart Chain, an EVM-compatible high-performance blockchain featuring cross-chain compatibility with Binance Chain.

Binance Smart Chain recently celebrated their first year anniversary, check out the link (https://www.binance.org/en/bsc-anniversary-1) to see their achievements and also to learn how blockchain technology is transforming the way we live, work, and transact. Get the latest on crypto trends that are driving mainstream adoption, and preview the future of blockchain-based spending, earning, saving, and giving. Join the Binance Smart Chain Hackathon today and get ready to BUIDL!

As a final bonus, all teams who submit a valid project submission will be eligible to join our post-hackathon trivia game show, which features cash prizes. This game show will be live-streamed (see below for details).

Challenge Categories All submissions must be projects built on Binance Smart Chain. In addition, these projects must be completely open source and non-custodial where assets are concerned. You can build anything, but we are particularly interested in innovative projects in the following areas:

DeFi and asset management

Private transactions and "dark contracts"

More categories TBA

We encourage you to build anything so long as it showcases your originality and unique strengths.

DeFi and Asset management ideas

We are looking for developers to build and port finance protocols utilizing Binance Bridge. Bridge liquidity from Ethereum and demonstrate applications that take advantage of BSC's fast finality and low fees.

DEX ecosystem: build out other features for DEXes including integrating with centralized and decentralized exchanges to bring liquidity, on-chain oracles, and arbitrage bots to mitigate price discrepancies. Also build stop loss protocols to protect liquidity providers against impermanent losses.

On-chain decentralized order book: implement a matching engine as a smart contract on BSC that also allows users to create limit orders for trading pairs.

Money market lending protocol native on BSC: build both lending protocols and aggregators with a single interface consolidating lending protocols, including cross-chain protocols, for the best rates. This also could include aggregators for yield farming.

Tokenized synthetic assets: build an issuance protocol to mint, support tokenized synthetic assets using Chainlink and Band oracles and list the assets on BSC DEXes.

Build other DeFi showcases including collective savings, decentralized mutual funds, insurance for deposits and smart contract risks, prediction markets (Augur, Omen), decentralized stablecoins, and more.

Build NFT and gaming showcases: build applications that allow users to create, share, sell and buy digital collectibles.

Defi APY dashboard: make a live dashboard that aggregates and filters all of the APYs for all yield farming on BSC.

Private transactions and "dark contracts" ideas

Implement ZK rollups on BSC for arbitrary smart contracts

Build a library or SDK that lets a contract become "dark" (enabling private transactions)

Build a protocol that lets a contract become selectively dark between chains

Build a dark, collateralized, stablecoin, a la Monero meets Dai.

Submission Requirements

All submissions must be open source and deployed live on the BSC test net or main net (Main net if seeking gas credit)

All submissions must list the addresses of their contracts on BSC

The application must be USEFUL and INTERESTING

If there is wide appeal for the application, it will score better

A demo video must be submitted for a complete submission

Judging Criteria

A panel of judges from Binance X and its partners will evaluate your submission. Here's the criteria by which your work will be judged:

Is the application useful? Is it interesting?

Design and usability

There must be sufficient documentation to use the submission, compile the source, and deploy it (if a relayer, for example)

The relative ease of use, as afforded by the UI and UX implemented for the submission.

Hackathon Timeline (Times in SGT) Hackathon Kick-off: Sep 8, 00:01

Binance X Workshops: Feb 2-20 (times TBA)

Deadline for Submissions: Feb 21, 23:59

Judging: Feb 22 - Feb 28

Winners Announced: Mar 1

All payouts complete: Mar 8

Non-cash prizes sent: Mar 31

Binance X Workshops Binance Hackathon participants are invited to join a hands-on workshop hosted by experts from the Binance X team and special guests. See below for a list of workshop topics (topics are subject to change):

Getting started on Binance Smart Chain Configuring your development environment Deploying your first smart contract to BSC Interacting with it via web3.js Guest Workshop: Curating on-chain data How to read large amounts of on-chain data Learn how to use available tools Meta transactions How to attract users for your DApp who don’t hold crypto assets How to adapt your contracts so transactions are free for your users
