cleanup the doom port #53

doom port is in a strange state. it works
(manages to put pixels on the screen) but
the code is full of troubled comments, huge
parts are commented out and lots of stuff 
is untested.

stuff that could be fun doing is also
implement the netgame stuff.

also, one gets an excuse for playing doom
all day ;)
