The current EBPS theme is a child theme of Twenty Fourteen. Ten years have passed and web design has moved on a bit. Users want an improved experience with:
more images and less text,
nicer fonts
better colours
and (more) suited to mobile devices
New themes such as Twenty Twenty-Four are fully customizable using the block based Site Editor.
EBPS would like to replace the existing theme with a new theme.
This will require:
The development of the new theme.
Some modifications to existing code, including HTML and/or CSS.
Somewhere to collaborate on the new design and implementation.
This issue is to address the first step.
Requirements
Same functionality as for the existing site with regards to
navigation menus
forms
events display
Joining the BPS
social media links
search
Improved look and feel using different fonts, font sizes, colours, and white space ( margins, padding etc)
Better use of images
Proposed solution
Create the child theme by copying and cobbling from another child theme of Twenty Twenty-Four (tt4ai).
Remove any custom code developed from the original child theme.
At the end of this stage the theme should consist of:
style.css
theme.json
functions.php
LICENSE
readme file(s)
screenshot.png
Using the Block editor and the Site Editor rework/redesign the home page to satisfy the new requirements.
Make content changes as necessary to demonstrate all the benefits of the new look and feel.
Once a reasonable look and feel has been achieved, copy the customizations back from the site editor to the child theme's files.
