In blocks which support the link tool the process of creating a link is:

to write some text,
then select it,
choose the link tool,
write most of the text again to initiate the search,
then select the URL.

Couldn’t we just

choose the link tool,
perform a search,
select the URL

and be done?

This is no longer necessary. Just do what I suggested...

Choose the link tool (Ctrl + K )
Perform a search
Select the URL

The link is created with the title of the content that was found. OK. So the search might be tricky when there's a lot of content with very similar titles but that's another problem.
