5 years ago - In v4.9.6 WordPress core was updated to include its own privacy notice generator, plus a whole load of other stuff.
- In WordPress 5.0 the Gutenberg editor was merged into core.
- The privacy notice created by core is editable using the block editor
- The privacy policy created by oik-privacy-policy appears as a Classic block.
- If you try to convert it to blocks then the transformation gets confused by inline shortcodes.
The pragmatic solution is to recommend using WordPress core and deprecate oik-privacy-policy.
We'll update it and mark it as Gutenberg compatible: No.
Further work will be needed to properly deprecate the plugin. e.g. Removal of options when the plugin is deleted. This will be a separate issue.
If and when the new block editor is merged into WordPress the HTML generated by oik-privacy-policy will not be immediately compatible as it will appear to be a classic block. It would be nice if the generated code produces core blocks.
