Still no context menu item... #24

Hi Bob,

I reported this issue a short time ago and was told it was because of MRTT. I have now removed said extension and still cannot display the context menu shortcut.

Any ideas please?

Cheers, Keith

Original issue #11 To debug the issue, will need more information.
Please fill out these details to help investigation: What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. 2. 3.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Version of Firefox?

Please provide any additional information below (include other addons installed):

Sorry for the lack of info!

Win XP Pro Firefox 24.0 STTF 2.0.3

I can't provide you with steps to reproduce the problem as there is no shortcut item at all in the context menu so Highlighting text doesn't make it appear!!

I have 65 other extensions:-

That is a lot of addons, can you backup your Firefox profile and upload somewhere so I can retrieve it? I dont feel like manually installing 65 extensions :) I'd assume one of those are causing conflicts with Save Text to File, the same way MRTT did .. as I cannot reproduce issue using FF 24 with only Save Text to File 2.0.3 installed.

keithy397 commented 11 years ago

Whilst I do that, do you think the Pref's are ok?

bobbyrne01 commented 11 years ago

Yeah, preferences look fine.

keithy397 commented 11 years ago

Ok thanks, get back to you soon.....

keithy397 commented 11 years ago

Thinking about it, I'll check thru my extensions to find the culprit, I'll get back to you when I do!

Hi Bob,

Sorry for the delay, got a bit tied up on other stuff.

I decided to check the extensions in my ßeta Profile where I have the same problems but with a lot less extensions!

I found the culprit to be Menu Editor 1.2.7, which is a shame because it's one of my fave extensions ;-(

Don't suppose you know of a fix?

Cheers, Keith

*( Ugh, what's wrong with my BBCode?!!)

bobbyrne01 commented 11 years ago

(Fixed your link) This is actually a duplicate of #11 Here's my original response there which is still valid here ..

"'Save Text to File' was migrated to the newer FF addon development model for V2.0 'Menu Editor' has not been updated since 'Version 1.2.7 Released March 8, 2011'

I'm afraid theres nothing I can do on my end, the problem lies with 'Menu Editor' and how it interacts with the FF context menu. Menu Editor should be updated to the newer addon SDK development model in order to prevent it breaking more addon's in the future. You can see on Menu Editor's review page, other users have reported that it breaks other addon's also: 'Breaks other extensions Rated 3 out of 5 stars by X on August 17, 2013 · permalink Removes menu items from other extensions. Most notably ContextMenuPlus'

Guess you have 2 options available:

  1. Remove Menu Editor and install Save Text to File v2.0 (Prefered)
  2. Keep Menu Editor and install Save Text to File v1.1.5 (Remember, v.1.1.5 is no longer supported)"
keithy397 commented 11 years ago

For some reason I thought the problem was MRTT?? Sorry!

I'll have a moan at the Menu Editor author and continue looking for something to replace it.

Thanks Bob.

Cheers, Keith

v2.1.7 adds a widget to bottom of FF window, may be a way for you to use latest supported version

keithy397 commented 10 years ago

I noticed that Bob, thanks, that solves my problem!
