What is a Right to be forgotten DAO...or huh, what are you talking about? #4

I've got a design for a DAO in the works and a set of libraries that can be used in a way to allow groups to more or less vote on whether or not someone get's to have their sh|t forgotten

So that means figuring out a way to make a contract that operates as a container for data ... lets say pictures.. each picture has it's own smart contract -- and the contract owner can fire a command that breaks the contracts therefore allowing deleting

bobsawey commented 7 years ago

deletion it's a baby of a thought because you still have to figure out how to do this for every transaction involving that contract ever

bobsawey commented 7 years ago

so basically I think the contract starts empty, gets loaded with a seed of sorts, blooms and is partially public but still requires a small real-world solution to view the data, and then when destroyed later it is no longer seeable ever again even if surfing the blockchain history

But that's all very f_cking theoretical and is going to take some time to solve. For now I'm just designing the voting structure in fair and unfair ways to prevent the emergence of a privileged group that can enforce a hierarchy from overpowering results in various ways.

That itself is pretty sticky stuff. But I've obsessed with thoughts like these since forever so the good news is it's a little easier to keep moving now that there is a technology that can house it note: storing images in ethereum would cost a fortune, that was just an arbitrary example. But yeah you know, sure you can use a key with an expiration date -- but the system that makes all that work well is going to be really hard to put into place. using an ethereum based organization that makes the call as to whether something can be removed WITHOUT forking the blockchain could lead us toward more and more efficient methods of governance I'll make pictures one day. It probably just sounds like a crazy person talking right now

Ethereum and whatever other technologies that allow us to do computation on the blockchain.. those things are going to make sh|t really f_cking weird at some point within an arbitrary number of years love that there are so many pipedreams without consideration of the potential for hugely negative social consequences due to people just being total d|cks

That said -- in this case, since shit is transparent, the people of the world will quickly evolve to be more understanding of each other
