It'd be nice to put:

projection
raster extent

ratser resolution in top-level metadata. Maybe as

"spatial_units" : {
"type" : "raster",
"description": <optional name of raster or model or something?>
"projection" : <string>,
"extent" : [x0, x1, y0, y1], # or is it [x0, y0, x1, y1] in R?
"resolution": [nx, ny]
}
