From Christine: "Showing metadata that exists, not the metadata we have" #66

3 days ago: "In some cases the Explorer shows what metadata we have as representing the % of collection catalogued, but it should be showing what metadata exists. See the drawing here for reference. Example: The SOLO collection https://gfs-oxford-explorer.herokuapp.com/collections/bod-main is actually 100% catalogued (column g=all), and we were give a sample of 73% of the metadata. Column M on the 'Sources' tab was originally on the 'collections' tab and explained whether what we have is everything or a sample."

@george08 i assume this is an item for the explorer not for backend data ingest.

mccarthymadsen commented 7 years ago

If it is easier to fake this, the number of published digital records can just be updated in the summary spreadsheet manually.

@mccarthymadsen could you please see how this feels now that we've made some tweaks to the numbers on show, and the copy?

mccarthymadsen commented 7 years ago

I'm still seeing solo as showing only 74% catalogued. https://gfs-oxford-explorer.herokuapp.com/collections/bod-main Can you give me an example of where the numbers have changed?

We did a quick comparison last week between ES and the guesstimates (dm_int)... we made the basic decision to use the larger count.

bod-main: ES count [8885599] is bigger than dm_int [8702598] bod-digital-bodleian: ES count [6206] is bigger than dm_int [0] bod-oxford-university-reseseach-archive-ora: ES count [143000] is bigger than dm_int [0] bod-hebrew-manuscripts: ES count [287] is bigger than dm_int [0] bod-maps: ES count [140534] is bigger than dm_int [0] mhs-florey-collections: ES count [71] is bigger than dm_int [23] mhs-gunther-collection: ES count [168] is bigger than dm_int [0] mhs-rms-mhs-collection: ES count [550] is bigger than dm_int [0] mhs-radcliffe-observatory-archive: ES count [74] is bigger than dm_int [53]
