💡 [REQUEST] - Lyric Romanisation Support #70

Closed Immortaleye3115 closed 1 month ago

Summary

Love the extension and was wondering if support for romanised lyrics could be added, so that for example Russian and Japanese songs can be sung by English speakers.

Basic Example

He's an example. The Japanese Lyric; "気持ちがいいのよ すらすら歩いて いくのよ"

Would have it's romanised version; "kimochi ga īnoyo surasura aruiteiku noyo"

Underneath it like how the English translation currently appears.

Hey thanks for the issue, seems like so far @VinayChaurasiyaA has done a good job with it. Quick question, don't we also want to convert english to lets say Romanized Japanese?

Like for example here, if romanization is enabled, dont we also want to convert the japanese below to its romanized version?

Good idea! Although, I know it can be a bit messy converting the roman alphabet to the Japanese Katakana system since the Katakana system doesn't have as many characters as the Roman system does.

For example, "Hello" converted to Katakana is "ヘロー" which when read aloud is pronounced "Hero".

On the other hand, "こんにちは" is Romanised as "Konnichiwa".

Since the Roman system has more characters, it can easily present "こんにちは" to an English speaker without losing any sounds. Unlike the opposite where the lack of characters results in "Hello" losing sounds becoming "Hero".

This is just an unavoidable issue with language differences, so not much you can do lol. But I'm just wondering if it will be difficult to implement the Roman to Katakana translator, code wise. As whoever makes the translator will have to make decisions on what the best way to translate it is.

I saw a few Romanizations and never saw it being the other way around, eg. if you are listening to a Japanese song it should help you sing in Japanese. otherwise, it will stuck in a loop of converting English to Japanese and Japanese to English... hence forth.
