con is a reserved name on Win32.

C:\temp\libforensics>hg update
abort: The directory name is invalid: C:\temp\libforensics\code/lf/win/con

I ran into the same issue.  The name "con" is not allowed as a directory name 
under (any version of?) Windows.  Is it possible to rename this so Windows 
users can utilize the libforensics framework?

There may be a simpler solution that I am not thinking of and would appreciate 
any recommendations.

I can confirm the issue over a Windows 7 Pro 64 bits and a NTFS file system 
with mercurial 1.6.4 and python 3.1
