UX issue: the text box #1058

  1. When clicking to reply, the text box opens in the bottom right, instead of below the comment.
  2. You cannot close the text-box pop-up; only minimize it. Then, when you click the + to write something new, it is still a reply or a DM, and you can't know that, nor can you close it without sending (unless you can, but I couldn't find the option, so it doesn't count)
  3. The text box is behind the scroll wheel. image

  1. it's meant to be there ( same patterns used by email clients like protonmail, gmail) we decided to adopt a non-blocking composer, meaning you can scroll and read through the feed or the discussion while typing
  2. agree, we had a close button but we temporarily hide it because it included new bugs - we def need to re-include it.
  3. weird, which browser are you using?

I understand that, and I agree it's a fine idea; But I believe an animation where the reply buttons "turn" into the textbox would make the UX a lot better.

Might want to change the + button to show the textbox is being minimized, not closed, too. Or remove minimization entirely. I found it very confusing.

  1. weird, which browser are you using?

Chrome 130.
